Standard vanes are glued to the shaft with a fletching jig. They are more robust than spin vanes and cope better with a course, with rain and with being pulled out of a target.

The jig leaves the angle up to the archer: straight, offset or helical. More angle brings the arrow into rotation sooner and settles it earlier, which counts above all with large points. It also creates more drag, so the arrow ends up slightly slower.
