Compound bows work with cams and cables that significantly reduce the holding weight at full draw. The archer holds only a fraction of the draw weight at anchor and can take time to aim, yet the arrow leaves faster than from any recurve.

We sort the bows by axle to axle length: the short hunting and 3D compounds under 35 inches for courses and the field, and the long target compounds from 35 inches for indoor and outdoor target shooting. Draw length and draw weight are adjustable within a range on almost every model; the exact figures are in each product description.
