The Tyro 17 is Avalon's carbon long rod for beginners and developing archers, available in 26, 28 and 30 inches.

A long rod puts mass out in front. The bow then moves more slowly and more calmly while you aim, so small tremors become sluggish and therefore smaller. After the shot the damper takes up part of the vibration before it reaches the riser.

Length decides how much of that you get. The longer the rod, the steadier the bow holds, but the more weight hangs off an outstretched arm. 26 inches suits younger archers and lower draw weights, 28 inches is the most common choice, and 30 inches is for archers who want maximum steadiness and can hold the bow comfortably.

A damper, a flat weight and a cap weight are included, so the rod is ready to shoot and can be tuned to your own feel through the weights.
