Adjustable V-bar from Shibuya, the link between riser, long rod and side rods.

A V-bar decides at what angle the side rods stand away from the bow, and therefore how their weight acts to the side. On the Varis that angle can be set rather than being fixed by the shape of the part. The housing is CNC machined from aluminium alloy and is wider than its predecessor, which helps it resist twisting under load.

Two details go beyond cosmetics. The threads of the two side mounts run in opposite directions, so the assembly cannot work itself loose while shooting. And the quick disconnect uses a triangular geometry: the long rod comes off for transport and goes back on in exactly the same orientation, with nothing to reset.

The Varis mounts front or rear and works equally for right and left hand. With the supplied bolt it weighs 192 grams, without it 153. That is not light, but it sits right at the bow, so it affects balance far less than the same mass would at the end of a rod.
