Taper Lock insert for Victory shafts in the .166 series, in eight sizes and three weights.

The insert covers Victory's .166 family: VAP, VAP TKO, VAP SS and VLR. All four share the same 0.166 inch inside diameter and therefore use the same component range.

Victory calls the design Taper Lock and cites higher strength and better concentricity. A truly concentric transition from insert to point matters most with broadheads, where even slight misalignment upsets flight.

Two decisions are involved, and they are separate. Size follows strictly from the shaft and leaves no room for preference. Weight is a free choice and sets how much front weight the finished arrow carries.

Size follows from shaft model and spine together, not from spine alone. The clearest example: a VAP in spine 500 takes size S, while a VAP TKO in the same spine 500 takes size M.

Compatibility

The weight options are 50 grains in aluminium, 75 grains in aluminium and stainless steel, and 95 grains in stainless steel. The light version keeps front weight low and leaves the shaft its original spine behaviour. The heavy one moves an extra 45 grains forward, raises FOC considerably and makes the shaft react weaker in dynamic spine. A change between versions is therefore not simply a swap in weight, and the spine needs rechecking.

• Size governs the fit inside the shaft only. Within one weight step all eight sizes weigh the same.
• Spines 235 and 175 exist on the VAP TKO only, and they are the only reason sizes 3XL and 5XL are needed.
