The SS in the name stands for stainless steel. Victory works the layers into the 90 degree carbon weave, so the metal sits within the wall. This is neither a plain carbon shaft nor a shaft with a metal jacket of the kind found on aluminium-clad models, which is why inside and outside diameters stay in line with the rest of the .166 range.

The difference shows in the weight. The 400 runs at 8.6 GPI against 7.9 for the same spine in the VAP TKO. More mass at the same diameter means slightly less speed, in exchange for more energy at the target and less drift in a crosswind. That places the shaft with 3D and field shooting and, where hunting is legal, with hunting.

Every shaft is supplied with a 50 grain aluminium SHOK Taper Lock outsert and an IP nock, so the build is prepared without further purchases once point and fletching are added.

The Elite grade, listed by Victory as V1, means a straightness of 0.001 inch. The range also offers Gamer at 0.003 inch and Sport at 0.006 inch. Construction, dimensions and material are identical across all three, only the manufacturing tolerance differs.
